3 Month Mark (Almost)

I can't believe that I've been living here in Athens for close to 3 months already. I can't say time is flying, but it sure is going faster than I thought it would! Other than language differences (though we're very lucky most people speak English here!), the absence of some favorite foods/ingredients at grocery stores, and learning how to fill my time; it has been a fun and exciting change of pace. It's been great being able to watch Mike play, do all the normal day-to-day activities together, and hang out with other wives and their families. It's always nice to have others around you that are, or have already, gone through the same difficulties that you are.

One exciting thing was that we were able to do was see Cirque del Soleil a few weeks ago, which was more amazing of a show than I thought it would be. The way they fly and flip through the air, along with the acrobatics and costumes, certainly made for quite the show.

I don't have much to write about, but just wanted to update our family and friends! I can say that with Thanksgiving coming up it definitely won't be the same, especially since they don't celebrate here. I mean, lets be honest, we just want an excuse to eat a lot of good home-cooked food! Sadly Mike will be traveling for a game in Spain, but all of the wives have unanimously decided we will celebrate anyways!

That's all for now but, I will leave you with an iphone photo dump :)

Our First Visitors!

These past 2 weeks have been a lot of fun having my Mom and Grandma here visiting. As excited as I was to move to Greece, it was still just as hard to leave Louisville along with family and friends. So, seeing these familiar faces was nice!

We got to fit a lot in while they were here! The Acropolis, the Plaka/Monistraki Area, Mike's scrimmage game, and more. I will have to say, I had a pretty good time being their tour guide as well.

First day in Athens! Walking around the neighborhood

Greek dinner of Chicken Gyros, yum

Monistraki, also called the Plaka or Athens Flea Market

Lunch down at the Plaka

beautiful views outside The Mall

Visiting Syntagma Square, Tomb of The Unknown Soldier

National Garden of Athens

They got to catch Mike's scrimmage game too!

Theater of Dionysus by the Acropolis

View from the Acropolis of Athens

Standing in front of the Parthenon

Erechtheion and Pandroseion

Mom & Grandma in front of the Erechtheion

It was great having them here, but a little weird (and sad) taking them to the airport and saying goodbye. I'm so used to visiting Mike the last few years, that it will take a little longer to sink in that I live here now too. This trip did made me look forward to having the rest of my family visit in January, and hopefully Mike is equally as thrilled ;)

Starting our Adventure

Thanks for following our blog! I started this as a way to keep you, our family and friends, in the loop while we are living overseas. We hope you enjoy our stories and pictures throughout our time here!

Mike is heading back to Athens from Slovenia tomorrow with the Greek National Team....while I am also heading to Athens! We're ready to be in the same place, finally.

We are also very excited to share pictures from our wedding! Click on the link below to look through them, and feel free to save or print whichever ones you would like!
